Grammy award-winning mixer and producer Philip Larsen remixes Leo Spauls „Heaven’s Deep Blue Sky“ featuring Bowie’s pianist Mike Garson.

Having worked with some of the biggest names in pop and dance music, delivering 100s of mixes and remixes to the world’s best-known record labels, Philip Larsen, whose work include Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Charli XCX, Moby, Emeli Sandé, Ellie Goulding and Britney Spears to name a few, has found an interesting new project.

Pianist virtuoso Mike Garson, who played on 20 of Bowie’s albums, is now touring the world with his „A Bowie Celebration Tour“, at 73. With 36K monthly listeners on Spotify, he’s an inspiration to young artists and has also found new collaborations with upcoming new talents, like Leo Spauls. Their mutual video has 44K viewings on Youtube, and the album was well reviewed in 9 online magazines and blogs when it was released last year, with special support from the German market where Leo Spauls is based with his band.

„Mike has been an idol of mine ever since I heard him play on the ‚David, Live in Philadelphia‘ album (1974), the first record I ever bought.“ Spauls says „So when Bowie suddenly died a few years ago I told myself, I want to do something with Mike Garson. And so I did. I contacted him on Twitter, and last summer we released an album together.“

Larsen has made an intense remix of „Heaven’s Deep Blue Sky“, blending Spauls melancholic crooning and Garson’s exceptional piano playing, that will be released April 26th.

MOUNT & illian – Fool

Streams gesammelt.

MOUNT erklärt die Geschichte hinter der Single und sagt: “Illian and I wrote the song on a whim in a spontaneous session in Berlin. Jonathan is a good friend of mine, who actually lives in Vienna too, but when we discovered we were both in Berlin we had to get into the studio. Out of that happy accident came one of my favourite songs of the trip. So I‘m really happy to be releasing this tune, not only because I love it, but also because it‘ll be alongside one of my closest friends.”

French Olivier Mateu a.k.a. Rodriguez Jr. delivers a stellar remix for Monolink´s „Frozen“.

He reveals a different incarnation of Mateu’s musical psyche, one that strides ahead, guided only by his kaleidoscopic vision; moving through shimmering, contemplative electronica, to deep and urgent techno, left field melodic accents and quirky pop refrains. Drawing inspiration from artists as diverse as Stockhausen, LFO, Carl Craig, Eric Satie, Kraftwerk, and Michael Polnareff, Rodriguez Jr.’s spirit of adventure translates as soaring creativity, and music that cannot be pigeonholed.

Another great remix of an albumtrack of Monolink´s early 2018 released debut album „Amniotic“ which got remixes by Patrice Bäumel („Sirens“), Tale of Us („Swallow“) and Ben Böhmer („Father Ocean“) already.

DJ, Guitarist, Lyricist, Singer
San Holo

Announces Single Release
Brighter Days’ ft. Bipolar Sunshine
through His Own Label, bitbird
Info:

Recording artist, DJ, guitar player and singer, San Holo today announced the release of his next track: ‘brighter days’ ft. Bipolar Sunshine. ‘brighter days’ is an ode to the realization that “even though things sometimes don’t work out between people, life goes on and brighter days will come. While at the same time, we sometimes still wonder if that other person thinks about the past experiences you shared.” In addition to this, San will be performing on the main stage of Electric Zoo NYC tonight, where he will be performing the new single. ‘brighter days’ is the third single off album1.

San Holo describes working with Bipolar Sunshine on ‘brighter days’: “The first time I met Bipolar Sunshine we had a studio set up in the kitchen of an Airbnb. He came to our place and we started writing on the couch and outside, wherever, got some coffee…it felt very natural writing songs with him, we were very much on the same wavelength regarding lyrics. I’ve always loved the song he did for DJ Snake, “Middle.” I really love his songwriting and his voice, I love the fact that his voice is not so perfect and it’s got some rough edges. You can authentically hear that in the recording as well, the verses are not perfect, it’s not perfectly polished, but it sounds very unique and very much like him.”

album1 sees San stepping outside of his typical perimeters, further challenging himself by innovating his sound and most importantly, exploring his ability to stretch the boundaries of the EDM/future bass genres of music. Sonically, the album showcases a more mature San Holo, who has taken all his experience within the electronic music scene and now transformed it into a refreshingly new direction to further the EDM and future bass genres. San was completely hands on during the creation process of album1; from producing, mixing/mastering the album himself, to writing/writing all the lyrics on the album with the artists in the room. There’s not a single song on this album where the creation process took place over email. Instead, San spent a couple months holed up in an Airbnb in Echo Park, with close friends and feature artists coming in and out during that time

„“lift me from the ground” plays dexterously with hard and soft. One moment, it’s intimate with Sofie Winterson’s whispery vocals, then it’s in your face with color.“ – Billboard

Amloop feat. Julie Jee – Bitte tanz mit mir (Bon Voyage)

VÖ: 15. Februar 2019
