CLAXY TAKE US ON A NEW JOURNEY WITH THEIR REIMAGINING OF THE NATIONAL’S “I NEED MY GIRL”
After performing as support for Paul Kalkbrenner in May and delivering a series of remixes, including reworks by Galestian and Death On The Balcony of their anthem “Before The Sun”, the Brazilian duo are back with a bold new chapter.
This time, Claxy turn their attention to one of The National’s most recognisable songs, My Girl”, offering a deeply personal reinterpretation of the 2013 classic.
“I Need Where Matt Berninger’s deep, resonant baritone once carried the song’s weight, Claxy transform it through Clara Valente’s airy, crystalline vocal delivery — breathy, intimate and dreamlike. The emotional core remains intact, but the track is given an entirely new setting: at the crossroads of melodic and vocal house, with shimmering synths and an indie-leaning edge that subtly nods towards indie dance.
The result is a striking balance between melancholy and euphoria.
“I Need My Girl” feels made for that particular moment when summer starts slipping away—when warm nights become memories and the horizon suddenly looks a little further away. A bittersweet track that can pull you towards the dancefloor while leaving you with tears in your eyes.
